Australian Miniature Hereford Network Miniature hereford heifer

What does it Cost to get Started?

To get started with stud stock - able to be registered with the Australian Hereford Association and meeting the Frame Score conditions - you can pay up to $20,000 for a heifer and up to $10,000 for a bull calf, but the usual prices are around $2,000 for a heifer and the same for a bull.

We have capped our best stud heifers at $20,000 and stud bulls at $8,000. This is no more than you pay for quality full sized stud beef cattle and you also need to consider the value of your offspring. It is possible to flush up to 10 embryos from a heifer in one flushing; embryos sell for up to $2,500 each, or simply go the natural birthing way. For details for the actual animals we have for sale at the moment visit here.

To see the latest information on what AMH breeders have for sale visit Australian Miniature Hereford Breeder Network website.

To get started with miniature Herefords, you can also purchase registered Herefords and use a miniature Hereford bull (just like the Largents did in the USA to help start the miniature poll Hereford line in the USA) - the animals are still able to be registered with the Australian Hereford Association, you need only pay up to $2,000 for a registered Hereford heifer calf. The animals are classified as miniature Herefords when they met the frame score conditions - see here for miniature Hereford frame scores

Remember you don’t need to buy a heifer and bull to have a breeding pair; if you buy a heifer we can supply fully imported pure miniature Hereford semen for $135 per straw.
